OUR COACHES
Laura is the Owner and Manager of Evolutionary and has been a competitive athlete all of her life. From athletics, to swimming, to skiing Laura has a great passion for sport, health and fitness.
Laura found Crossfit in 2009 and soon decided to compete. This year, Laura became the UK Crossfit Champion, and finished 14th in the European Crossfit Regionals.
Laura is an Internationally Qualified Ski Instructor, a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, Crossfit Kids Instructor, and a Level 3 Advanced Fitness Instructor.
Laura’s knowledge of and experience within the industry makes her a friendly, approachable, empathic coach. She will work with you to realise your potential and ensure that you achieve your goals, no matter where you are starting from.
With a keen eye for movement, Laura will challenge your body whilst ensuring sound technique. Her inspiration, enthusiasm and motivation will ensure that you believe in yourself as much as she does and get the results you deserve!
Chris is a qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor and an Associate Member of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.
His sporting achievements began during his early years as a county football player, and he went on to play non-league football as a semi-professional (Not quite achieving the lofty heights of his famous footballing cousin, there is no doubt that athletic ability clearly runs through the family!). However, it was a fascination with the martial arts that led Chris to study extensively in the art of Muay Thai (Thai boxing as it is known in the western world is the national sport of Thailand, where it is known as the “art of 8 limbs“). Even without the contact elements, Muay Thai is a formidable way to become lean, agile and strong.
Whether you are working with Chris on a one to one basis, or within the group coaching classes, he will ensure that you get the most out of each and every session, working with you to achieve your goals.

David Venus – Coach
I’m not sure anything good ever came of posting half-naked photos of yourself on the internet, but in the interests of people only believing what they see with their own eyes, and the fact that I just get strange looks when I say, “Fat does not make you fat!”, I thought I’d share this recent photo. I say recent photo, because back when I was eating oatmeal, wholemeal, an abundance of fruit & veg, I was never this lean. Despite, or more accurately because, I was into multi-day endurance sports I always carried a layer of fat around my waist. It makes sense right…if you were going on an extra long car journey you’d want to carry as much fuel as possible too. But getting people to abandon their hour-long cardio sessions (running, spinning, Zumba) is an ongoing challenge. I’d describe my physique as ‘lean’ or ‘healthy’ but not ‘athletic’, but at 34yrs of age I can comfortably maintain this level of leaness all year round without being a slave to the gym or deprived of calories. My personal focus now is to move well, whilst building as much strength as humanly possible (years of ‘chronic cardio’ has left me weak) and that’s my approach with clients…move well, get strong, enjoy quality food. Now, where’s that butter!
